Japan 高校1年 Period for Inquiry-Based Cross-Disciplinary Study
Chapters: 3
1. Inquiry process
Setting a question from one's own way of life · Collecting information · Organising and analysing · Summarising and expressing
- Research Skills: From a Question to a Finished Project – Research is a careful way of finding an answer. You ask a clear, focused question, plan how to answer it, find information and check that each source can be trusted, collect and analyse your own data, draw a conclusion that the evidence supports, and share it while crediting every source you used.
- Organising and Analysing Information – After you collect information, you must make sense of it. Organise it: sort it into groups with one clear rule, count it, and put it in a table or chart. Then analyse it: compare groups, find the mode, mean, median and range, and say what pattern you see and what it does not prove.
2. Content set by each school (examples)

- Career Planning: From Knowing Yourself to Your First Job – Career planning has five steps. 1) Know yourself: interests, skills and values. 2) Explore career families and find out the work, study needed, pay and demand. 3) Plan a pathway with SMART goals and a plan B. 4) Search for jobs with a CV, cover letter, digital portfolio and interview practice. 5) Make the move from school to work and keep learning, because careers change over a lifetime.
