Romania Clasa a VIII-a Counselling and Personal Development
Chapters: 4
1. Self-knowledge and healthy lifestyle
Vision and success · Safe decisions
- Decision Making: How to Choose Well, Step by Step – Decision making means choosing the best option from two or more choices. A good decision follows steps: spot the problem, list options, set criteria, give each criterion a weight, score the options, choose, act and then review. A decision matrix turns this into simple numbers.
2. Socio-emotional development
Self-control · Conflict
- Emotions: Nature, Expression, Culture and Management – An emotion is a strong feeling with three parts: body arousal, a thought or appraisal of the event, and an outward expression. There are a few basic emotions that vary in intensity and can mix. Emotions are shown by face, voice and body; basic facial expressions are widely shared, but culture sets display rules. Negative emotions can be managed (awareness, reappraisal, relaxation, exercise, support) and positive ones built (gratitude, hope, kindness, friends, flow).
3. Learning management
Learning skills
- Study Skills: Learn Smarter and Handle Exam Stress – We forget most new facts within days unless we revise them. Study skills are the habits that make learning stick. The strongest are spaced revision (reviewing after 1, 3, 7 and 21 days) and active recall (testing yourself instead of re-reading). Focus blocks such as the Pomodoro method, a written timetable, good notes (Cornell notes, mind maps) and enough sleep all help. For languages, learn words in context, use flash cards, read and listen every day and speak early. A little stress keeps you alert, but too much blocks thinking, so learn calming tricks and plan ahead.
4. Career management
Educational pathways · Personal education and career plan
- Career Planning: From Knowing Yourself to Your First Job – Career planning has five steps. 1) Know yourself: interests, skills and values. 2) Explore career families and find out the work, study needed, pay and demand. 3) Plan a pathway with SMART goals and a plan B. 4) Search for jobs with a CV, cover letter, digital portfolio and interview practice. 5) Make the move from school to work and keep learning, because careers change over a lifetime.
