South 고등학교 2학년 Literature and Film
Chapters: 3
1. Literature and moving images
How literature and film shape meaning · Effects of form and medium · Influence between works and films
- Adaptation: How a Story Moves from a Book to a Film, Play or Game – An adaptation is a new work made from an older one in a different medium, such as a novel turned into a film, a play, a comic, a series or a game. Each medium has its own tools and limits, so the adapter must cut, merge, change and sometimes add. Adaptations can be faithful, loose or free (transposed to a new time or place). To compare a book and its adaptation, look at what changed, why it changed, and what new meaning it creates.
- Media Literacy – Media literacy is the skill of reading, questioning and creating media: news, ads, videos, posts, films and games. Every media text is made by someone, for a purpose, for an audience, using forms, conventions and techniques that shape how we feel. A media-literate person checks the source, evidence, other coverage and the original before believing or sharing, notices bias and filter bubbles, and makes their own media responsibly.
2. Creating
Techniques for writing and filmmaking · Comparing works with similar subjects · Presenting works effectively
- Media Production: How a Media Product Is Made – Media production is making a media product, such as a video, podcast, poster, website or magazine, for a purpose and an audience. It starts with a brief: what the client wants, for whom, by when and on what budget. Producers research their target audience (age, interests, where they spend time) and choose the platforms that reach them. Production happens in stages. Pre-production: idea, research, script, storyboard or mock-up, shot list, schedule, permissions. Production: filming, recording or photographing, using shot sizes, angles, lighting and sound with purpose. Post-production: editing, adding music, graphics and captions, and checking quality. Distribution: publishing on the right platforms, often as a cross-media campaign where products link to each other. Finally, producers evaluate using audience feedback. Good media is legal and ethical: respect copyright, get consent, avoid stereotypes and be honest.
3. Careers and attitudes
Careers in literature and media · Critical reception · Creative thinking · Ethics of reception and production
- Career Planning: From Knowing Yourself to Your First Job – Career planning has five steps. 1) Know yourself: interests, skills and values. 2) Explore career families and find out the work, study needed, pay and demand. 3) Plan a pathway with SMART goals and a plan B. 4) Search for jobs with a CV, cover letter, digital portfolio and interview practice. 5) Make the move from school to work and keep learning, because careers change over a lifetime.
