- Morphology: Parts of Speech and Word Forms – Morphology is the study of how words are built and how they change form. Each word belongs to a part of speech (noun, adjective, pronoun, numeral, verb, adverb). Words change form for grammatical categories: nouns for number, gender and case; adjectives for degree; verbs for tense, aspect, mood and voice; adverbs for degree.
