Netherlands VWO 3 (onderbouw) English
Chapters: 2
1. Information and writing
Finding information in English sources · Informal written contact · Writing (adopted, legal 2027) · Rich sources, creativity and processing texts (adopted, legal 2027)
- Research Skills: From a Question to a Finished Project – Research is a careful way of finding an answer. You ask a clear, focused question, plan how to answer it, find information and check that each source can be trusted, collect and analyse your own data, draw a conclusion that the evidence supports, and share it while crediting every source you used.
2. English in the world
The role of English in international contact · Language learning and culture awareness (adopted, legal 2027)
- Intercultural Competence – Intercultural competence is the ability to understand, respect and communicate well with people whose culture is different from yours. Culture is like an iceberg: food, clothes and festivals are visible, but values, ideas about time and rules of politeness are hidden. Misunderstandings come from the hidden part. Good intercultural skills are: knowing about other cultures, keeping an open and curious attitude, and practising skills like careful listening, asking questions and holding back quick judgement. Learning a foreign language is one of the best bridges.
