- Making Inferences: Reading and Listening Between the Lines – An inference is a smart guess based on clues in a text plus what you already know. Good readers and listeners infer people's feelings and mood, a speaker's or writer's intent and purpose, their tone and attitude, the meaning of new words from context, and information the text leaves out. Every inference must be supported by evidence.

Humanities and arts texts · Social science texts · Science and technology texts · Informational writing · Argumentative writing · Reflective and expressive writing · Topic-integrated reading and writing · Reading and writing with media
- Media Literacy – Media literacy is the skill of reading, questioning and creating media: news, ads, videos, posts, films and games. Every media text is made by someone, for a purpose, for an audience, using forms, conventions and techniques that shape how we feel. A media-literate person checks the source, evidence, other coverage and the original before believing or sharing, notices bias and filter bubbles, and makes their own media responsibly.
