1. Listening and speaking
Conversation principles and self-check · Debate by key issues
- Debate Skills: How to Argue Clearly, Fairly and Well – A debate is a timed, rule-based contest of ideas on a motion. One side argues for it, the other against it, and a chair keeps order. A good argument has a claim, a reason, evidence and a link to the motion. Research makes evidence strong: reliable, recent and relevant. Rebuttal answers the other side's weakest points; cross-examination uses short questions to expose them. Good debaters attack arguments, not people, and listen as carefully as they speak.

- Media Literacy – Media literacy is the skill of reading, questioning and creating media: news, ads, videos, posts, films and games. Every media text is made by someone, for a purpose, for an audience, using forms, conventions and techniques that shape how we feel. A media-literate person checks the source, evidence, other coverage and the original before believing or sharing, notices bias and filter bubbles, and makes their own media responsibly.
- Media Production: How a Media Product Is Made – Media production is making a media product, such as a video, podcast, poster, website or magazine, for a purpose and an audience. It starts with a brief: what the client wants, for whom, by when and on what budget. Producers research their target audience (age, interests, where they spend time) and choose the platforms that reach them. Production happens in stages. Pre-production: idea, research, script, storyboard or mock-up, shot list, schedule, permissions. Production: filming, recording or photographing, using shot sizes, angles, lighting and sound with purpose. Post-production: editing, adding music, graphics and captions, and checking quality. Distribution: publishing on the right platforms, often as a cross-media campaign where products link to each other. Finally, producers evaluate using audience feedback. Good media is legal and ethical: respect copyright, get consent, avoid stereotypes and be honest.
