तुलना क्या है?
Adjective (विशेषण) संज्ञा के बारे में बताता है (a tall boy)। Adverb (क्रियाविशेषण) काम के बारे में बताता है (he runs fast)। तुलना में हम शब्द थोड़ा बदलते हैं।
तीन स्तर हैं: सादा (tall), comparative (taller), superlative (the tallest)।
Comparative: दो चीज़ों की तुलना
दो चीज़ों की तुलना में comparative लगाओ और than बोलो।
- छोटा शब्द: -er लगाओ। tall → taller, fast → faster।
- अंत में -e हो: सिर्फ -r। nice → nicer।
- व्यंजन + y हो: y को i करके -er। happy → happier।
- एक स्वर + एक व्यंजन हो: आखिरी अक्षर दोहराओ। big → bigger।
- लंबा शब्द (3 या ज़्यादा syllable): आगे more। careful → more careful। -ly वाले adverb: more carefully।
उदाहरण: "My bag is heavier than yours." "She speaks more clearly than I do."
Superlative: तीन या ज़्यादा में सबसे
तीन या ज़्यादा चीज़ों में जो सबसे ऊपर हो, उसके लिए superlative। आगे the लगता है।
- छोटा शब्द: the -est। tall → the tallest, big → the biggest, happy → the happiest।
- लंबा शब्द: the most। the most careful, the most beautiful।
उदाहरण: "Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world."
As ... as: बराबरी
दो चीज़ें बराबर हों तो दो as के बीच सादा शब्द रखो: "Ben is as tall as Ann."
"बराबर नहीं" के लिए not as ... as: "This test was not as hard as the last one." यानी यह test आसान था।
अलग (irregular) शब्द याद रखो

"more better" या "the most best" कभी मत कहो। शब्द पहले से बदला हुआ है।

हल किए गए उदाहरण
1. तुलना करो: "लाल रस्सी 3 m की है। नीली रस्सी 5 m की है।"
दो चीज़ें हैं, इसलिए comparative: "The blue rope is longer than the red rope." या "The red rope is shorter than the blue rope."
2. भरो: "Of the three runners, Meera is the ____ (fast)."
तीन धावक, यानी superlative। fast छोटा शब्द है, इसलिए "the fastest": "Meera is the fastest."
3. चुनो: "This puzzle is ____ than that one." (difficult)
difficult लंबा शब्द है, इसलिए more: "more difficult than"।
4. सुधारो: "Ravi is more taller than Sam."
tall छोटा शब्द है, सिर्फ -er चाहिए: "Ravi is taller than Sam." more और -er साथ नहीं आते।
5. "happy" के तीनों रूप लिखो।
happy (सादा), happier (y को i, फिर -er), the happiest।
6. as ... as से जोड़ो: "चाय Rs 20 की है। कॉफ़ी Rs 20 की है।"
दोनों बराबर हैं: "Tea is as expensive as coffee."
आम गलतियाँ
- more और -er दोनों लगाना: "more taller"।
- comparative के बाद than भूलना, या then लिख देना।
- superlative से पहले the भूलना: "Cara is tallest" नहीं, "the tallest"।
- सिर्फ दो चीज़ों के लिए superlative लगाना। दो के लिए comparative।
