China 高一 Arts (integrated)
Chapters: 3
1. Comp.1 Arts and life
From life to art; art in daily life; seasons and symbols; festival arts
- From Life to Art: How Daily Life Becomes Art – Art begins with life. Early people painted animals and hands on rock and decorated clay pots with bands and patterns. Today designers shape cups and chairs to fit the way we use them. Seasons give art its symbols, such as plum blossom for spring and pine for winter. Festivals fill streets with lanterns, rangoli, paper cuts and colour.
2. Comp.2 Arts and culture
Line, rhythm, form, style; cultural trends, treasures, theatre culture, media culture
- Line, Rhythm, Form and Style: Art Across Cultures – Art in different fields shares the same building blocks. A line can be a brush stroke, a melody or a dance path. Rhythm is a pattern of beats in time or shapes in space. Form is how parts are arranged: balance, contrast, repetition and unity. Style is a recognisable way of making art. Great periods such as the Tang age and the Renaissance, trade routes like the Silk Road, theatre and media let art and ideas travel.
3. Comp.3 Arts and science
Science in art; art in science; interaction; AI and virtual technology in art
- Science in Art and Art in Science – Art and science help each other. Science gives art ideas like ratio, symmetry, perspective, fractal patterns and the chemistry of colour. Art helps science by drawing and showing what is hard to see, from the body to the tiny world. Today pixels, AI and virtual reality (VR) make a new kind of art where an image is a set of numbers.
