Ontario Grade 12 AVI4E Visual Arts (Grade 12, Workplace Preparation)
Chapters: 3
1. A. Creating and Presenting
A1 The Creative Process · A2 The Elements and Principles of Design · A3 Production and Presentation
- Elements of Art and Principles of Design – The elements of art are the building blocks an artist uses: line, shape, form, colour, value, texture and space (many teachers also add the point). The principles of design are the rules for arranging those blocks: balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, rhythm and pattern, proportion and scale, and unity with variety. Knowing both helps you make art on purpose and talk about any artwork clearly.
2. B. Reflecting, Responding, and Analysing
B1 The Critical Analysis Process · B2 Art, Society, and Values · B3 Connections Beyond the Classroom

- Surface Area and Volume of Cuboid, Cylinder, Cone, Pyramid and Sphere – Surface area is the total area of the outside skin of a solid, like the paper needed to wrap it. Volume is the space inside, like the water it can hold. A cuboid's volume is the number of 1 cm cubes that fit in it. A cone holds one third of a cylinder with the same base and height, and a pyramid holds one third of the matching prism.
