- मानवशास्त्र और संस्कृति – मानवशास्त्र (anthropology) इंसान का पूरा अध्ययन है: हमारा शरीर, हमारा अतीत, हमारी भाषाएँ और जीने का ढंग। संस्कृति किसी समूह का सीखा हुआ और साझा जीवन-ढंग है: लोग क्या बनाते, करते, बोलते और मानते हैं। संस्कृति सीखी जाती है, साझा होती है, प्रतीकों से भरी होती है, आपस में जुड़ी होती है और बदलती रहती है। मानवशास्त्री लोगों के साथ रहकर (सहभागी अवलोकन) इसे समझते हैं, और हर संस्कृति को उसकी अपनी नज़र से देखने की कोशिश करते हैं (सांस्कृतिक सापेक्षवाद), अपनी संस्कृति के पैमाने से नहीं (नृजातीय-केंद्रवाद)।
